You are a larva, a spore, a bacterium, a seed.

You were born into a life you didn't ask for, fated to feed on the remains of a creature too enormous to fathom.

You are the decomposer of a dead god. You are the creator of a new world.

Decomposer is a GM-less tabletop roleplaying game you can play in one session of about 1-2 hours, solo or with up to 6 players. You'll roll dice, dig through the remains of a mysterious creature, and digest its body into something new. It's inspired by Norse and Mesopotamian creation myths, and games like The Quiet Year. It was designed for the 2023 One-Page RPG Jam.

To play, you'll need a few sets of polyhedral dice or an online dice roller, a few sheets of blank paper, and a pencil.

Layout, art, and writing by Ben Mansky. Decomposer uses the fonts Saint by Liza Dushnota, Fit by David Jonathan Ross, Blackout by Flat-It, and Neue Haas Grotesk.

What an equally delightful and weird game! Recently played this with a group I’d never met before, and the imaginative license given to the players allowed all of our unique personalities to shine as we described & drew the decomposing parts we chose to digest, and the wondrously bizarre new world of strange beings we gave life. Highly recommend for a unique afternoon activity, and suggest bringing lots of colored pencils/markers to enhance the fun.

A complete package neatly tied together with a simple yet striking artistic direction. The writing is enticing, and the mechanics are unlike any I've interacted with. This lovely little morsel of a game left me champing at the bit for an entire world designed with this flavor.

Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it!
